Dr. Higgins spent most of her childhood in Pennsylvania before moving back to the Ozarks as a teenager. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in English Secondary Education, her Master of Arts degree in Teaching, and her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership in Curriculum and Instruction–all from Evangel University. In addition to nine years spent in the high school classroom, Jamie has spent time behind the scenes working as an administrative assistant for higher education and teaching college classes in an adjunct capacity. Though she once took a “break” from teaching to pursue a career in social work and child advocacy for five years, she ultimately returned to teaching because it’s her calling. She is passionate about developing relevant curriculum, forming fruitful relationships with students and families, and thinking outside the box. She also coaches Speech and Debate.
Outside of education, Jamie loves to spend time with her family and her growing collection of farm animals. She is an avid fisherwoman, loves camping, and is learning to hunt.
