My name is Amy Wood-Van Horn. I am blessed to have served as a Special Educator in various roles during my career. With over 12 years of experience in the Special Education field, I have developed a love for building successful students through positive interventions.
Throughout my career, I have worked in various roles including paraprofessional, K-5 Suspension Programs, 3rd-5th grade Alternative School Programs for struggling learners, K-5 resource teacher, Middle School co-teaching English Language Arts, Middle and High School resource teacher, and Process Coordinator. Each of these experiences has given me the opportunity to learn and grow as an educator, as well as develop lasting interventions for students.
I hold a Doctorate in Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction from Evangel University in Springfield, MO. This coursework and research base has given me the skills and opportunity to learn and grow as a leader, educator, and colleague.
With an extensive academic and professional background, I consistently work to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families to ensure special education students are receiving the appropriate services in the educational environment.
